I. How We Collect and Use Your Personal Information
(1) Information We Collect and Use When You Use the App
We collect and use only the information necessary to provide the features described in this Policy. You may choose whether to grant the relevant system permissions, but if you decline, we may be unable to provide the corresponding features.
1. Core privacy design of the App
Pawlbum is private by default: we do not offer user accounts, we do not integrate advertising, we do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and we do not upload your photos or pet information to our servers. Data you create in the App is stored locally on your device, except when you actively export it through the system share feature.
2. Information you provide voluntarily
When you use features such as pet profiles, Moments, photo tags, collage sharing, and wallpaper creation, you may provide the following information, which is stored locally on your device:
(1) Pet profiles: such as pet name, species, breed, birthday, gender, personality tags, bio, avatar image, and similar details;
(2) Moments: such as title, date, notes, linked pet, and linked photos;
(3) Photo tags and notes: tags you add or confirm manually, favorite status, and pet assignment relationships;
(4) App preferences: such as whether onboarding has been completed and local records of letter display.
3. Information related to photo library and camera permissions
After you grant permission, the App may access your system photo library and/or camera to provide the following features:
(1) Read photo library: import, browse, search, and filter the pet photos, videos, and Live Photos you choose; the App references your media files through system-provided photo identifiers and does not batch-upload your original photos without your action;
(2) Write to photo library: save photos you capture in the App, collages you create, or wallpapers you generate back to your system photo library (only when you actively choose to save or share);
(3) Use camera: quickly capture pet photos and import them into the App according to your workflow.
4. On-device intelligent analysis information
To provide features such as pet recognition, automatic tagging, duplicate photo cleanup, and smart search, the App uses system frameworks such as Apple Vision to analyze photos locally on your device, and may generate and store the following information locally:
(1) detected animal categories (such as cat or dog);
(2) suggested tags for scene, action, color, and similar attributes;
(3) image feature data used for pet matching and duplicate detection.
All such analysis is performed on your device. Analysis results are not sent to our servers and are not used for cross-app advertising or user profiling.
5. Widget-related information
If you add Pawlbum Home Screen or Lock Screen widgets, the App exports the thumbnails, pet names, and other display information necessary for widgets into a local shared container (App Group) used by the App and its widgets, solely for display on your device. This data remains on your device and is not uploaded to the internet.
6. Information we do not actively collect
The App currently does not collect the following: user accounts and passwords, phone numbers, email addresses, precise or coarse location, contacts, calendar data, health data, device advertising identifiers, IP addresses, server access logs, or personal information used for advertising or user tracking.
7. When you share voluntarily
When you use the system share sheet to share photos, collages, or wallpapers to other apps such as WeChat, Mail, or Messages, that sharing is initiated by you and handled by the third-party app you choose under its own privacy policy. This does not constitute our active collection or receipt of your personal information.
We undertake to de-identify or anonymize processed information in accordance with applicable law. Information that cannot identify a natural person on its own or when combined with other information is not personal information in the legal sense. If we combine non-personal information with other information in a way that identifies you, we will treat that combined information as your personal information and protect it under this Privacy Policy for the duration of such combined use.
If the collection, use, or processing of personal information required for our products or services goes beyond the scope described above, or if we intend to use information collected for a specific purpose for another purpose, we will notify you within a reasonable period or before processing and obtain your authorized consent.
(2) Exceptions where consent is not required
Please understand that, in accordance with laws, regulations, and relevant national standards, we may collect and use your personal information without your consent in the following circumstances:
1. where directly related to national security or defense security;
2. where directly related to public safety, public health, or major public interests;
3. where directly related to criminal investigation, prosecution, trial, or enforcement of judgments;
4. where necessary to protect your or another person’s life, property, or other major lawful rights and interests, but it is difficult to obtain consent;
5. where the personal information collected is disclosed by you to the public on your own;
6. where your personal information is collected from lawfully and publicly disclosed information, such as lawful news reporting or government information disclosure channels;
7. where necessary to enter into or perform a contract at your request;
8. where necessary to maintain the safe and stable operation of the software and related services, such as discovering and handling faults in the software and related services;
9. where the personal information controller is a news organization and collection is necessary for lawful news reporting;
10. where academic research institutions collect information necessary for statistical or academic research in the public interest, and personal information contained in externally provided research or descriptive results has been de-identified;
11. other circumstances provided by laws and regulations.
II. How We Share, Transfer, and Publicly Disclose Your Personal Information
(1) Sharing
We do not share your personal information with any company, organization, or individual, except in the following cases:
1. with your explicit consent;
2. as required by laws and regulations or mandatory requirements of competent government authorities.
Currently, Pawlbum does not integrate third-party SDKs for WeChat login, payments, advertising, or analytics/tracking, and we do not provide your pet information, photo content, or local analysis results to third parties for their independent products or services.
(2) Transfer
We do not transfer your personal information to any company, organization, or individual, except in the following cases:
1. with your explicit consent;
2. in the event of a merger, acquisition, or bankruptcy liquidation involving the transfer of personal information, we will require the new holder of your personal information to continue to be bound by this Privacy Policy; otherwise, we will require that company or organization to seek your authorized consent again.
(3) Public disclosure
We will publicly disclose your personal information only under the following circumstances:
1. with your explicit consent;
2. disclosure based on law: where required by law, legal process, litigation, or mandatory requirements of competent government authorities.
(4) Exceptions where prior consent is not required for sharing, transfer, or public disclosure
Please understand that, in accordance with laws, regulations, and relevant national standards, we may share, transfer, or publicly disclose your personal information without your consent in the following circumstances:
1. where directly related to national security or defense security;
2. where directly related to public safety, public health, or major public interests;
3. where directly related to criminal investigation, prosecution, trial, or enforcement of judgments;
4. where necessary to protect your or another person’s life, property, or other major lawful rights and interests, but it is difficult to obtain consent;
5. information you have disclosed to the public on your own;
6. information collected from lawfully and publicly disclosed sources, such as lawful news reporting or government information disclosure channels.
III. How We Protect Your Personal Information
(1) We use industry-standard security measures to protect the personal information you provide against unauthorized access, public disclosure, use, modification, damage, or loss. We take all reasonable and feasible measures to protect your personal information. For example, we rely on iOS app sandboxing, permission controls, local data protection mechanisms, and similar safeguards; for data in the widget shared container, we retain only the minimum information necessary for display.
(2) We take all reasonable and feasible measures to ensure that irrelevant personal information is not collected. We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
(3) Please understand that even with reasonable and necessary safeguards in place, the internet and mobile device environments may still involve certain risks. For information you actively send to third-party apps through the system share feature, security is shared between the relevant third party and you.
(4) In the unfortunate event of a personal information security incident, we will, as required by laws and regulations, promptly inform you of: the basic situation and possible impact of the incident; the measures we have taken or will take; suggestions for you to prevent and reduce risks on your own; and remedial measures available to you. We will inform you of the incident in a reasonable manner, and where it is difficult to notify each individual, we will issue an announcement in a reasonable and effective way. We will also proactively report the handling of the incident to regulators as required.
IV. Your Rights
In accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards of the People’s Republic of China, as well as common practices in other countries and regions, we ensure that you may exercise the following rights with respect to your personal information:
(1) Access your personal information
You can view and manage your pet profiles, photo assignments, tags, Moments, favorite status, and related information directly in the App. Because the App does not provide a cloud account, such data is mainly stored locally on your device.
(2) Correct your personal information
You can edit pet profiles, modify tags, adjust photo-to-pet relationships, and edit Moment content in the App to correct or supplement your information.
(3) Delete your personal information
You may delete relevant personal information in the following circumstances:
1. if our processing of personal information violates laws or regulations;
2. if we collect or use your personal information without your consent;
3. if our processing of personal information violates our agreement with you;
4. if you no longer use our products or services.
You may delete the corresponding local data by removing pet profiles, unlinking photos, deleting Moments, and using other deletion features in the App. After you uninstall the App, local data stored in the app sandbox and App Group is usually deleted by the system; however, photos and videos you have saved to the system photo library will remain there and must be managed by you in the system photo library.
(4) Change the scope of your authorization and consent
Certain features require basic system permissions. For photo library and camera permissions, you may grant or revoke authorization at any time through iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos / Camera > Pawlbum. After you withdraw consent, we will no longer process the relevant information based on that permission, but you may be unable to continue using the corresponding features. Your decision to withdraw consent will not affect processing previously carried out based on your authorization.
(5) Account cancellation by the data subject
The App currently does not offer account registration, so there is no separate cloud account cancellation process. If you wish to stop using the App and clear local data, you may delete relevant in-app data and then uninstall the App.
(6) Responding to your requests above
1. To protect security, you may need to submit a written request or otherwise verify your identity. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing your request. We will respond within thirty days.
2. We generally do not charge a fee for reasonable requests, but we may charge a reasonable cost for repeated or excessive requests. We may refuse requests that are unreasonably repetitive, require disproportionate technical effort, pose risks to the lawful rights and interests of others, or are highly impractical.
3. Please also understand that, for security reasons, legal requirements, or technical limitations, we may be unable to respond to certain requests, including but not limited to the following:
(1) related to the personal information controller’s fulfillment of obligations under laws and regulations;
(2) related to national security or defense security;
(3) related to public safety, public health, or major public interests;
(4) related to criminal investigation, prosecution, trial, or enforcement of judgments;
(5) where the personal information controller has sufficient evidence that the data subject has acted with subjective malice or abused rights;
(6) where necessary to protect the life, property, or other major lawful rights and interests of the data subject or another person, but it is difficult to obtain consent;
(7) where responding to the data subject’s request would cause serious harm to the lawful rights and interests of the data subject or other individuals or organizations;
(8) involving trade secrets.
V. How Your Personal Information Is Stored
The App currently does not operate a user-facing cloud database. Data generated while you use Pawlbum—such as pet profiles, tags, Moments, local analysis results, and widget display cache—is mainly stored locally on your iOS device, including the app sandbox and the App Group shared container.
Your original photos, videos, and Live Photos remain managed by the system photo library; the App usually stores only reference identifiers to media in the system photo library and the local metadata necessary to provide its features.
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes and uses described in this Policy and for the minimum period required by laws and regulations. When you delete relevant data, uninstall the App, or revoke necessary permissions and the relevant data no longer has value for use, we will stop further use of the relevant local data, and the system will delete app-local storage in accordance with iOS mechanisms.
VI. How We Protect Minors’ Personal Information
We attach great importance to the protection of children’s personal information. Pawlbum is primarily intended for adults to manage family pet photos, but minors may also use the App under the guidance of a guardian. Although the definition of a child varies by local law and custom, we treat anyone under the age of 14 as a child.
Where a child uses the App and enters relevant information with the consent of a parent or guardian, we process that information only locally on the device to provide app functionality and do not actively upload it to our servers. If a guardian believes we have processed a child’s personal information without verifiable guardian consent, they may contact us and we will assist after verification.
If you discover that we have collected a child’s personal information without knowing it or without prior verifiable guardian consent, please contact us promptly and we will delete the relevant data after discovery.

(1) Cookies
This Policy is provided as a web page for online reading. If you access this page through a browser, the website host or your browser may use cookies or similar technologies to ensure normal page display or record basic visit status. The iOS App itself does not collect your personal information through cookies.
We do not use cookies for any purpose beyond those described in this Policy. You may manage or delete cookies in your browser according to your preferences. Most web browsers offer a feature to block cookies, but if you block cookies, you may need to reconfigure some page settings on each visit.

In addition to cookies, some web pages may use web beacons, pixel tags, and similar technologies. If you access this Policy page through a link in an email, the sender may learn whether the link was opened. The App does not rely on such technologies for its day-to-day functionality.
(3) Do Not Track
Many web browsers offer a Do Not Track feature that sends a Do Not Track request to websites. At present, major internet standards organizations have not established policies specifying how websites should respond to such requests. However, if your browser has Do Not Track enabled, we will respect your choice.
VIII. How This Policy Is Updated
Our Privacy Policy may change. Without your explicit consent, we will not reduce the rights you are entitled to under this Privacy Policy. We will publish any changes to this Policy on this page. For material changes, we will provide more prominent notice. Material changes include, but are not limited to:
1. changes to the purposes of processing personal information, the types of personal information processed, or how personal information is used;
